The coffee shop was warm and comfortable. The mis-matched strewn furniture fit the customer base well. I'm not sure what it was about it, but I always came here when I  needed a break from my own suffering. I felt out of place from the patrons. After all, I was only in high school and these people looked like they had reached the end of their lives. Except for a few. It was also pretty awkward to think that I could be out partying with some jocks if I really wanted to, but to be honest I was never really into that. I liked Star Wars and crocket, not football and pornography like most guys at school.

A pair of old friends caught my eye. Two women, mid-thirties. One had a daughter that had apparently never met her mother's friend. She looked awkward and nervous. Her black hair and dark eyes showed the resemblance to her mother. I remembered meetings when I was a kid, only I didn't usually do that well. I was still awkward and strained when it came to human interactions. I don't care enough to change.

When I took a drink of my delicious bitter coffee, I noticed a younger girl staring at me. Middle Schooler. She just shamelessly stared. I guess I deserve it, but it's still rude. I took a bite from my onion bagel and tried not to let it bother me. When I looked up from my drawing the next time, she wasn't there, but my brother and his friend were at the counter. I knew they'd come to join me on this ugly, green, and extremely comfortable couch. It hit me that it could look odd if Frank saw I had been drawing him.

Carefully placing my drawing of Frank in the back of my pile of papers, I started a new sketch of a teenage guy I'd never seen before. He was very attractive and didn't mind me sneaking glances every few seconds. He even winked a couple times.

I took a sip of my coffee and picked up my pencil to continue. My fingertips tingled from the temperature difference. There was something oddly beautiful about it.

When Mikey and Frank sat down, I couldn't help but wonder if Frank was trying to be beautiful. His hair was smooth and pulled behind his ears, but a few stray strands lay over his eyes and almost dipped into his coffee as he blew on the surface. His hazel eyes looked very green today, but with streaks of gold. It only took a few seconds of me looking at him before he noticed.

Mikey interrupted my thoughts with his voice. He doesn't say much until it inconveniences me.

"Is that bagel good Gee?" He motioned to my nearly finished bagel that I had recently forgotten.

"Yeah, it's good, even if you're not really hungry."

Frankie smiled for some reason when I spoke and I had to take a drink of my coffee to try to hide a smile on my own face.

Frank sipped at his café au lait, the same as I was drinking. Some foam remained on his upper lip, the bubbles gently popping but he didn't do anything about it. Mikey was still at the counter, a hair flip signaling he'd be a while before turning to wait and order.

I decided the foam on Frank's lip demanded attention.

Before I leaned over, I said quickly, "Lemme get that for you." My tongue swept the foam from his upper lip. It was fast but exactly what I had in mind.

He looked surprised but all he did was smile, those big eyes on me. Mikey sat back down and I noticed suddenly that Frank was slowly becoming closer to me. He must've moved his chair when I looked away.

I took one final bit of my bagel to finish it off.

"Let me get that."

Frank tongue rubbed over both of my lips and I got a chance to kiss him lightly before he pulled away.

Mikey didn't seem surprised.

"Just no sex in my room."
